The Laramie Plainsmen concluded their fall camp Saturday with a small situational scrimmage at Deti Stadium.

After a warm-up period, the Plainsmen scrimmaged for nearly 90 minutes just six days before their season opener. Laramie started drives from its own 20, its own 35, its own 40-yard line, the opponent’s 40-yard line, red zone, goal and getting pinned inside their own 5-yard line.

Head coach Clint Reed rotated quarterbacks Garrett Dodd and Jake Vigen, who are in a battle for the starting job. Coach Reed didn’t tip his hand, as to who will start next Friday in the season opener. They divided up the backs and receivers, along with mixing some lineman in and out.

Sophomore receiver and defensive back Jackson Devine was one of the stars of the scrimmage. He made two diving grabs at receiver, hauled in a TD pass from Dodd, and made a diving catch for an interception.

Junior Julian Cortez also drew some praise from line coach Jake Chick with his play on both sides of the ball.

In the video above, those two joined KOWB’s David Settle to talk about the scrimmage, fall camp, and getting ready for their first game.

Laramie will play the Kelly Walsh Trojans on Friday, Aug. 30 at Deti Stadium in the season debut for both teams. Kick-off is at 6 p.m.
