After three weeks of preparation, the time has arrived for the debut of Laramie Plainsmen football 2019. LHS takes on Kelly Walsh tonight at 6 p.m.

Laramie went 4-6 and lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs in 2018. They return three starters on offense and two on defense. Overall, there are 13 lettermen back for LHS.

Clint Reed is in his third year as head coach. After three wins in year one and four in year two, Reed is looking to continue the forward progress. He spoke with KOWB’s David Settle in the video above about year three, the team’s preparation, and getting ready for the Trojans.

Two of the seniors that are expected to lead the way are wide receiver and defensive back Connor Killpack and lineman Jamen Livingston. They spoke with Mr. Settle about their senior year, continuing to improve, the team’s goals, how practice has gone, and more.

Laramie will face a Kelly Walsh team with a new head coach. Aaron Makelky was hired in the off-season from Class 2A Big Piney. They’ve got a new system and philosophy that the Plainsmen haven’t seen. The Trojans went 3-7 in 2018 and also lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Kelly Walsh has won three straight in the series, but Laramie leads overall 23-20. The last win for LHS came in 2015, 48-14 in the final game at the old Deti Stadium.

Kick-off for tonight’s game is at 6 p.m.

KOWB (AM 1290) will broadcast tonight’s game and all Laramie Football games throughout the 2019 season. Coverage will begin at 5 p.m. You can listen on the radio, online, through the KOWB app or smart speakers.
