The boys went down to the wire again, while the girls were blown out in last Saturday’s Wyoming-Montana All-Star basketball games in Sheridan.

The Wyoming boys dropped their 16th consecutive game in the series, 95-94, at the Golden Dome. The Wyoming girls struggled in the second half and fell 89-46 on Saturday night in their seventh straight loss.

The boys from the Cowboy State got off to a good start with a 22-16 lead after the first quarter. They struggled in the second and saw Montana take a halftime lead of 44-36. With just under three minutes left, Wyoming was down 90-84. Tristan Bower’s three-point play and a basket by Trase Olsen got them back within 94-91. Montana’s Jesse Owens made one free throw with ten seconds left. That proved to be huge, as Olsen made a three from the corner at the buzzer, tried to draw a foul, but nothing was called and Montana survived 95-94.

Bower led the Cowboy State with 18 points. Olsen and Treyton Paxton added 16 points apiece, while Davion McAdam contributed 14 points.

Wyoming fell to 27-61 in the all-time series. They haven’t won a game versus the Treasure State since 2011.
