Sage Morton of Laramie Commits to UW for Swimming
Laramie swimmer Sage Morton won't be going very far to compete at the next level as she will be joining the Wyoming Cowgirl squad. Morton had a terrific 4A state meet in 2019 as the Plainsmen won the team championship handily. She placed first in the 500-meter freestyle in 5.04.17 and broke the state record in the event in the prelims with a clocking of 5.03.71. Morton took the silver medal in the 200 free at 1.57.58 and was on two first-place relay teams, the 200 free and the 400 free.
In her junior year. Morton took 2nd at the state meet in the 500 free in 5.22.95 and that shows you the improvement she made from her junior to her senior year. In 2018, she placed 3rd in the 200 free and was on the Laramie 400 free relay that won the state championship.
As a sophomore, Morton made it to the top of the podium in the 400 free relay yet again along with a 4th place finish in the 500 freestyle. She competed for Cheyenne East in her freshman year and took 8th place at the state meet in that 500 free.
