The University of Wyoming tennis program is proud to host and present the second annual ‘Vets At The Nets’ event Saturday in Laramie.

This is a tennis workshop or clinic, as well as match playing day for veterans of all abilities and families at the UW Outdoor Tennis complex at 2717 Armory Road. The event starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. It is free of charge and no registration is required. Just show up, sign in and have fun.

The United State Tennis Association of Wyoming, Wyoming Institute for Disabilities and Department of Veterans Affairs coordinate with the University of Wyoming tennis program to provide veterans and their families a chance to learn and play the sport of tennis with coaches and players from UW.

Wyoming Tennis head coach Dean Clower and Senior Project Coordinator at the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities Corey Jenkins joined host David Settle during the “Laramie Live on KOWB” radio morning show to discuss this year’s event.

The BBQ lunch is at noon with open play until 2 p.m.

There is also a raffle featuring prizes from Grand Slam Champion, Hall of Famer and veteran Stan Smith, as well as veteran and renowned tennis coach Nick Bollettieri and more.

This is the first of a few events for veterans in southeast Wyoming. Additionally, June 28 in Cheyenne will be an Adaptive Sports Day at Lions Park. June 30 will feature an outdoor photography class with Basecamp in Laramie, plus there’s a Casper Biathlon Try It Clinic in Casper the same day.

July 19 will feature a picnic in Box Canyon and campfire with Basecamp guides.
