Three Denver Stadiums Rank Among The Ten Worst For Food Safety
Next time you attend a game or concert at Broncos Stadium, Coors Field, or the Pepsi Center, keep an eye out for cockroaches...they might be in your food. An ESPN investigation into food safety at sporting events detailed a disgusting list of violations at all Denver''s three largest venues, including cases of mold, insect infestation, and even mice poop.
The report documented food safety inspections from 107 health departments around the country. All three Denver venues ranked in the bottom 10. Broncos Stadium was 103rd, with 74 high-level violations in 2016 and 2017. Pepsi Center finished 101st, with a series of serious infractions. At Coors Field, which ranked 99th nationwide, officials noted "thousands of pest feces throughout the facility; and evidence of nesting observed at facility."
One especially egregious incident at Coors Field highlights the ESPN "Outside The Lines" feature. In 2016, an inspector discovered a live mouse inside a bag of Cracker Jacks.
"At least our sports teams rank high at something," restaurant consultant John Imbergamo told the Denver Post.
