What’s Wyoming’s Favorite Christmas Cookie?
Growing up, one of my favorite days was when my mom would pull out the stand mixer and get started making cookies, candies and other treats for the Christmas season. I've taken to continuing the tradition, giving friends tins of goodies inspired by the treats my mom used to make.
Peanut Butter Buckeyes, Divinity, Chocolate covered pretzels, frosted flake wreaths, etc. All huge parts of the holiday season for my family. So the question at the beginning still remains, what is the favorite Christmas Cookie of the Wyomingites getting ready for a white Christmas?
General Mills, of Pillsbury and Betty Crocker fame, put together a map of all of the most popular cookie recipes in each state. Peanut Butter appears to be necessary in all of the top spots, though only Hawaii listed Gingerbread as their favorite.
Our neighbors to the south in Colorado prefer "Easy Spritz Cookies," which I adore just for the fun shapes you can put them in! Montana likes "Easiest-Ever Russian Tea Cakes," while South Dakota is all in on Easy Christmas Crinkle Cookies. Funnily enough, the only state to actually love the Buckeyes I remember so fondly is the state where the nut itself is so popular; Ohio.
The Cowboy State sits up there with seven other states labeling the "Peanut Butter Blossoms," the pretty little peanut butter cookies with a hershey's kiss embedded in the middle. Honestly, I'd seen those cookies all over, but I was today years old when I realized what their proper name was. What's your favorite Christmas Cookie? Is it on the map?
