Woman Arrested for Meth, Pot Following Hit & Run in Cheyenne
A Cheyenne transient is behind bars after hitting a power pole with her car and running from the cops for almost ten weeks.
Officer Dan Long with the Cheyenne Police Department says officers were called to a single-vehicle accident with property damage in the 900 block of W. 28th Street on June 10.
"A female had actually collided with some private property and then fled the area on foot leaving the vehicle," said Long. "Officers did an inventory of the vehicle and found close to 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a little bit of marijuana."
Police were finally able to track down the driver of the car, 56-year-old Valerie States, and arrested her Tuesday afternoon.
"I don't know specifically what tipped them off," said Long.
States was charged for the hit and run as well as felony drug possession. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 26 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
