Wyoming’s Lucas Wacha Hopes To Make History In This Week’s NFL Draft
The list of famous sports families is long and legendary: Manning, Matthews, Earnhardt, Griffey, Bonds, Molina, Harbaugh, Upton and many more who have excelled in professional sports.
This week, former University of Wyoming Linebacker Lucas Wacha will have the chance to join a very rare fraternity of brothers who have played in different professional sports.
According to the latest projections, Wacha could be one of three former Pokes selected in this week's NFL Draft, along with Running Back Brian Hill and Center Chase Roullier. Even if Wacha goes undrafted, he will likely be offered a free agent contract and an invitation to NFL Training Camp this summer.
If Wacha can earn a spot on an NFL roster, he and his older brother Michael will become the only siblings currently playing professional football and baseball. Michael recently began his fifth season as a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The only other brothers currently playing in two different professional sports are NBA star Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Trayce Thompson. Their father, Mychal Thompson was a two-time NBA Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers in the late 80s.
