The 2015 University Homecoming theme is “Once a Cowboy, Always a Cowboy.”  Homecoming week began on Saturday with The Big Event, where University students volunteered throughout the Laramie community.

Public activities will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 14.  The annual Homecoming Sing will be held in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.  The other events will include reunions, dancing, seminars, and campus tours, culminating with the Homecoming parade and football game against the Nevada Wolfpack on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Some of this week’s featured events include:

The annual Iron Skull Homecoming Sing, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Free country swing dance lessons will precede a performance by Ryan Chrys and the Rough Cuts at the Homecoming dance in the Wyoming Union Ballroom on Wednesday evening.  Lessons at 8 p.m., music and dance at 9 p.m.

Thursday will feature a pizza and Homecoming t-shirt giveaway sponsored by the Alumni Association at 11 a.m. in Simpson Plaza, followed by a yell contest at noon.

There will be a car push up the War Memorial Stadium ramp at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon.

At 11:45 a.m. on Friday, the pig roast and trivia bowl will be hosted at Simpson Plaza.

At 4 p.m. Friday, UW faculty member and National Geographic writer Mark Jenkins will speak at the annual Keith and Thyra Thomson Honors Convocation in the College Arts and Sciences Auditorium.

Friday will also include a free concert by The Wyoming Jazz Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.

The Homecoming Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Ivinson Avenue.  The parade will travel west to Third Street, south to Grand Avenue, and east to 13th Street.

The Homecoming football game, featuring the Pokes matched up against the Nevada Wolfpack in War Memorial Stadium, will kick off at 2 p.m.
