Cheyenne East won its first softball title in school history in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Lake was an all-state performer and led Cheyenne East to its first softball state championship in school history.

Players must have received first-team all-conference to be considered for all-state recognition.

The head coaches voted for honors based on the eight teams within the two regions, North and South.

The season ends with an eight-team, double-elimination state tournament bracket in Cheyenne.

Thunder Basin senior Ashley Rogge and Wheatland junior Landri Vaughn shared the girls’ honor. Thermopolis teammates Cole Keller and Stetson Moody were the boys’ winners.

At the two regional tournaments, Campbell County finished first in the North, and Cheyenne East won the South.

Two wins and a team advances to the state tournament. Two losses and a team is eliminated.

Laramie senior Rachael Dean and Cheyenne Central senior Teagan Wernick were the winners.

The No. 1 spot in the final rankings of the season came down to a mere three points.

The regular season is nearly done in Wyoming prep fastpitch softball. Only four doubleheaders have to be played on Monday and Tuesday.
