The City’s contractor began asphalt milling operations on the Riverside Drive Rehabilitation Project on Wednesday, September 16.

Recycling asphalt is cost-effective and is typically a very quick process. In this case, however, the asphalt material mined from Riverside Drive for reapplication on W Harrison Street, and a few connecting roads, was too large and additional labor-intensive work has been necessary.

City crews have been working steadily to refine the large asphalt pieces into appropriately sized milling. An asphalt “cap” of finer material will be placed Wednesday, September 23.

Motorists are advised that the road surface will remain rough until the cap is placed. For this reason, the affected sections of the road will remain open to local traffic only until the project is completed.
