Wyoming Federal Judges Sentence Seven
Federal judges in Wyoming recently sentenced seven people for drugs, firearms, fraud, illegal alien and other crimes, according to the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Emmanuel Huitron-Guizar, 29, of Mexico for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Huitron-Guizar was arrested in Gillette. He received time served, plus 10 days, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Freudenthal sentenced Joseph David Roberts, 30, of Rock Springs for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or less of heroin. Roberts was arrested in Cheyenne. He received five years imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $400 restitution. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
Freudenthal sentenced Sarian Althea Leavitt, 39, of Evanston for conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine. She received 10 years imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $400 restitution. This case was investigated by the DCI.
U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced Michelle Lynn Chambers, 35, of Gillette for failure to disclose income. Chambers, as a representative payee for a Supplemental Security Income Benefits recipient, knowingly concealed and failed to disclose her full household income in order to continue to receive those benefits in amounts greater than she was authorized to receive. Chambers received five years of supervised probation and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $57,900.34 restitution. This case was investigated by the Social Security Administration.
Skavdahl sentenced Pearl Yonko, 37, of St. Louis, Mo., for conspiracy to transport stolen property through interstate commerce. Yonko was arrested in Laramie. She received 15 months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $165,372 restitution, joint and several with other defendants. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Skavdahl sentenced Jeffrey Chad Joseph, 32, of Preston, Idaho, for failure to register as a sex offender. Joseph was arrested in Park City, Utah. He received time served, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay $100 special assessment. This case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Skavdahl also sentenced Richard Anthony Root, 52, of Granger for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He received three years two months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
