It was one week ago today that the Laramie High School Girls’ Swimming and Diving team won their second consecutive Class 4A State Championship.

Laramie did so in dominating fashion. They won by 129 points. The Lady Plainsmen won four events, two individuals and two relays. Junior Olivia McPherson won the 50-freestyle for a third straight year, the 100-freestyle for the first time with a state record. She also anchored the victorious 200-freestyle and 400-freestyle relays.

Shortly after celebrating the state championship with his team, and then drying off after a dive into the pool with the team, head coach Tom Hudson joined KOWB’s David Settle for an in-depth conversation about the title in the video above.

Laramie won back-to-back titles for the first time since 2000 and 2001. They will return 16 of their 26 state qualifiers from this championship squad to next year.
