Weather Forces Changes For Laramie High School Sports
It’s not a giant surprise that weather has interfered with the start of the high school spring sports season across the state.
Laramie High School soccer has had their schedule changed, while LHS track will have to wait to make their season debut.
Laramie’s varsity soccer teams were set to play in the Casper Jamboree Friday and Saturday, but snow on the ground force that event to be canceled Thursday. LHS was to play three shortened matches over the two days for non-conference action.
Now, Laramie High School AD Ron Wagner has sent notice that Laramie will get to salvage one match, and it will be in town. LHS will play host to Kelly Walsh in girls’ and boys’ JV and varsity matches Saturday at the University of Wyoming’s Indoor Practice Facility (IPF).
The schedule will be girls’ JV at 10 a.m. followed by boys’ JV at noon. The varsity girls’ will play their match at 2 p.m., with the boys’ varsity after that at 4 p.m.
Both teams are set to start conference play next week versus Gillette and Sheridan.
Meanwhile, Laramie High School outdoor track and field won’t compete now until March 30. Saturday’s Glen Legler Early Bird Invitational in Casper hosted by Natrona County High School has been canceled.
With LHS on spring break next week, the track and field teams do not have a competition on their schedule.
